The sea thirsted and the clouds collapsed
She wondered if he fancied he could see the lights when the sun overcast.
His was unorthodox and hers was the norm but somewhere between desperation and normalcy,
she remembered him with great fondness.
Names, sense and singularity all seemed to be trendy
But take heart; tenderness was on its way!
Diamonds, golds and extravagance were halfway through futility
Yet she remembered him with decency.
In all of the world’s possessions,
Where he stood and fought,
What he became and gained,
If he retaliated or not;
Under all circumstances of drunkenness and logic,
She remembered him with an inordinate fondness
Her so-called ‘opium for romance.’
